FAQ

Common questions about how CloudRebuild handles multi-cloud backup, cross-cloud restore and SaaS data protection.

What is CloudRebuild?

CloudRebuild is a unified multi-cloud backup and disaster recovery platform. It backs up and restores workloads across Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, along with SaaS data in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and Microsoft Intune, from a single interface.

Can CloudRebuild restore a workload from one cloud to a different cloud?

Yes. CloudRebuild performs cross-cloud restore, so an Azure workload can be recovered into AWS, or any supported cloud into any other. It translates IAM, networking and storage constructs between providers so workloads do not have to be rebuilt from scratch.

What recovery time (RTO) does CloudRebuild target?

CloudRebuild targets a recovery time objective of under 15 minutes, using parallel restore and intelligent resource prioritisation across both cloud infrastructure and SaaS data.

Which clouds does CloudRebuild support?

Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for infrastructure backup and recovery.

Which SaaS applications does CloudRebuild back up?

Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams), Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Calendar and Shared Drives), and Microsoft Intune device configurations, compliance policies, app protection settings and user assignments.

How does CloudRebuild secure backup data?

Backup data is encrypted with AES-256-GCM at rest and in transit. CloudRebuild supports bring-your-own-key (BYOK) with Azure Key Vault integration, uses a zero-trust architecture with least-privilege access, and runs on SOC 2 Type II compliant infrastructure.

How does CloudRebuild avoid broken restores?

CloudRebuild builds a dependency graph of discovered resources and uses topological sorting to restore them in the correct order, so relationships between resources such as VMs, databases, networks and IAM remain intact after recovery.

Does CloudRebuild help with cloud migration as well as disaster recovery?

Yes. Because CloudRebuild can restore into a different cloud than the one a workload was backed up from, the same cross-cloud restore capability is used to migrate workloads between providers and to clone production environments for development and testing.

What permissions does CloudRebuild need on my cloud accounts?

Cloud accounts are connected using read-only discovery permissions, so CloudRebuild can enumerate resources and build dependency graphs without write access to your production environment.

Are backups isolated from each other?

Yes. The SaaS Backup Engine runs completely isolated from cloud infrastructure backup, with separate API servers, worker pools, queue namespaces and database schemas.

How large an environment can CloudRebuild handle?

CloudRebuild is designed for terabyte to petabyte-scale workloads, with parallel backup and restore, multi-region storage with automatic replication, and horizontal scaling.

Can recovery points be tampered with?

No. Recovery points are immutable once written, integrity is verified automatically on every backup, and backup manifests are immutable for audit purposes.
